| | | | | Parchments | | | | My avid interest in the ancient civilizations and the power to reproduce different textures in a workshop come together in this series of illustrated phrases as a search into the past to understand the future.
Each piece is made on a canvas hardened and treated to recreate the look and feel of a parchment. Multiple techniques and materials were employed to convey different messages, depending on the culture portrayed in that specific parchment.
Coming from different times, places and authors, the phrases express deep thoughts on important topics like war, life and spirituality. They are laid out in plain Spanish language, but using customized typographies to match the associated culture. | | Anasazi Mixed techniques on treated canvas 7-3/4" x 9-3/4" 2001 * Ink, acrylic, wood, sand, metal
